The FamilyCare Initiative provides access to counseling services for low-income families who do not have insurance or the financial resources to cover the cost. Using short-term intensive treatment, FamilyCare promotes prevention and early intervention. Designed primarily for individuals and/or families who are in life circumstances that are, more often than not, financially and emotionally overwhelming, FamilyCare provides a sliding-scale fee structure. FamilyCare takes ability-to-pay into account for individuals and families seeking treatment services. Therefore, treatment can be provided at a time when there is a high probability of improvement and before more severe impairment occurs. Since its inception in 2007, FamilyCare has provided approximately 600 hours of counseling services each year resulting in significant improvement of clients’ sense of well-being and reduction in the symptoms impairing their lives.
